Victoria Burchfield & Family

Fifteen year old Victoria Burchfield is a freshman, home-school student with a tremendous gift for singing. Her unique country, bluegrass vocal style, with a subtle influence of Dolly Parton and Alison Kraus, has won her top honors at several notable contests in the past couple of years, including first place female vocalist at Top Nazarene Talent, southeastern US, 2013 and 2014 as well as first prize overall at Taylor Ware’s “Sing your Heart Out” competition. With a blossoming career in gospel music, she is also working on her talents as a musician and songwriter. “I want to do my best to develop the gifts God has given me, and just allow him to use me.” Her musical talent does not come by surprise. Both her parents have a mind boggling list of musical credits.

Victoria’s parents, Mark Burchfield and Wanda Vick Burchfield, are both prominent Nashville studio musicians. The long list of artist that they have recorded with, toured with and performed with looks like a Who’s Who of Country and Christian Music. It includes superstars like Taylor Swift, Jason Aldean, Billy Ray Cyrus, Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton, legends such as George Jones, Dolly Parton, B.J. Thomas and the group Alabama, and gospel artists Twila Paria, Sandi Patti, Michael English, Vestal Goodman, and the Gaither Vocal Band to name only a very few. You’ve also probably seen them playing on Gaither Videos Mark is owner of Watershed Recording Studio, www.watershedrecordingstudio.com, and is a notable producer and bass player. A Dove nomimated producer, he has produced more than a dozen projects for Green Hills Records as well as producing numerous artists from the United States and several other countries. He is at home playing all styles of music on the electric and acoustic bass. Wanda, www.wandavick.com, once called the “Jill of all strings” by People Magazine, plays a plethora of stringed instruments. She played six years in the house band on TNN’s nightly music television show, was a regular performer on the Grand Ole Opry with Porter Wagonaer, for a couple of years and also put together an all-female band “Wild Rose”, who recorded for Capitol records and had hit singles, videos and was nominated for ACM and Grammy awards in the early 90’s. She is now a successful studio musician.

When not working with other artists, Mark and Wanda greatly enjoy recording with Victoria. This year, they helped Victoria complete a project entitled “You are my Sunshine”, which is a selection of old songs and hymns loved by the elderly, that Victoria recorded as a Girl Scout service project. Victoria is greatly enjoying singing at local retirement facilities and nursing homes and handing out free cd’s to the residents. Victoria’s grandfather who suffers from advanced Alzheimer’s disease inspired Victoria to do this project. (click here for you tube link) For the past few years, Victoria has brightened his days by singing for him, and even though he knows little else, he still sings along and knows every word of the old hymns. As she sang for him, Victoria grew to greatly love the old spirituals and hymns and she is currently finishing up a hymns and spirituals cd to be released spring of 2015. (click here to pre-order and for more information) She is hoping to also complete and cd of original music as well as one of Christmas music later in 2015.

In addition to recording, as time permits, Victoria enjoys doing live concerts along with her parents. Her little brother, Daniel, 8, also joins in on a few numbers.
